The difference between the OEM bin door at left and the new Raisbeck door at right, is obvious...

...yet when installed, the difference is hardly noticeable. If anything, overall appearance is improved.

Flight crews and passengers enjoy the increased capacity. Standard roller bags now fit transversely, allowing as many as 48 more such bags to be carried overhead.

Raisbeck Extended Bullnose Rail increases bin capacity and protection from falling objects.

Ground handlers appreciate not having to re-open sealed cargo bays to load gate-checked baggage. Flight operations saves time between passenger loading and pushback, resulting in on-time departures.

Raisbeck Overhead Bin Enlargement Kits can be installed by a crew of four in six hours on an overnight.

Installation is literally "a snap" as original hardware mates to new doors with four pins, two for hinges and two for hydraulic door lifts.

Typical OEM bin problem: standard roller bag placed crosswise will not allow door to close...

...resulting in the flight attendant having to gate-check the carry-on, which in turn can result in late departure.

Raisbeck A320 Enlarged Overhead Bins being installed across jetBlue fleet

January 22, 2002 - Seattle, Washington USA

Raisbeck Engineering has completed retrofitting its new Enlarged Overhead Bin Systems for lead customer JetBlue Airways.

The enlarged bins are now being installed on every newly delivered Airbus A320 aircraft at JetBlue's Orlando, Florida completion center.

JetBlue, which has arrangements with Airbus for up to 132 A320 aircraft, is taking delivery of one new aircraft approximately every three weeks.

The Raisbeck Enlarged Overhead Bin System, with its redesigned door system and extended bin floor, doubles the usable passenger cabin overhead storage space and offers quicker and easier loading and unloading.

With the Raisbeck enlarged bin the popular 22" upright carry-on bags can be stored endwise with the bag's handle facing the door, rather than lengthwise.

CEO James Raisbeck said, "The original smaller bins sometimes added to last-minute bag shuffling in the cabin, with some bags being off-loaded and checked at the last minute before departure. This has been true even after carry-ons were limited to one larger bag and one smaller item per person, since more passengers still tend to avoid checking if possible. We are pleased that JetBlue has added Raisbeck Enlarged Overhead Bins to their impressive and growing list of innovative services."

JetBlue President David Barger commented, "At JetBlue, we’re committed to ensuring the comfort and ease of our customers. There is no doubt that the new, larger overhead bins will substantially enhance our efforts to board our customers quickly and efficiently and to depart on time."

Installation of the bins is quick, taking four mechanics approximately five hours to complete one aircraft. It is easily accomplished during an aircraft’s overnight visit, or when outfitting new airplanes with specific airline equipment

The lines of the new doors are aesthetically pleasing and add nothing to the empty weight of the aircraft. They are fully FAA-certified, and manufactured under FAA PMA regulations.

Britax Heath Tecna has joined Raisbeck for volume production requirements of the system.

Raisbeck A320 Expanded Overhead Bins are in ready-for-final color-painting to any airline’s requirements, and are available for overnight shipment to any airline facility in the world. Increased capacity overhead bin systems are also currently under development at Raisbeck for other models of Airbus and Boeing airplanes.

Along with its wholly-owned subsidiary Raisbeck Commercial Air Group, Raisbeck Engineering designs, engineers, certifies, and manufactures systems and components to increase the productivity and safety of corporate, business and airline aircraft
